Each year about 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted and at the same time about 800 million people do not have access to sufficient and nutritious food.Food waste is a global issue and is becoming a sticking point for many. A significant portion of the food we grow is wasted. Whether that is at the point of production or after it has reached the consumer, whatever it might be, food is being wasted. So, is now the time to find out how to raise awareness for food waste?
On the occasion of World Food Day, 16th October 2015, Siddhabhoomi Trust distributed food for street dwellers in New Delhi area. This distribution also was aimed at bringing awareness to people about conservation of food and the need to help the poor and needy in the surroundings. Siddhabhoomi Trust have contributed to reduce hunger and malnutrition in regions with vulnerable population, through food donation.
